Frisco permanent lighting FAQ

Straight answers on associations, controllers, holidays, weather, and electrical scope. If a question is about your exact house, an installer has to see it.

Do Frisco HOAs usually approve permanent lights?

Many Frisco and nearby Collin County associations allow architectural lighting when the track is discreet and the default look is warm white. Some covenants still treat color-changing nodes as decorations. Ask your HOA or management company for the current architectural guideline before you schedule an install, and have the installer share a product photo of the track color against your trim.

How do the app controllers work?

Most permanent systems pair a weatherproof controller to a phone app over Wi-Fi. You set scenes, timers, and brightness from the couch. The installer should confirm that your outdoor signal reaches the controller location—usually a garage eave or a discreet sidewall—before they leave.

Can the lights show game-day or team colors?

If the nodes are RGB or RGBW, yes. Homeowners commonly run blue-and-silver, red-and-blue, or school colors for a Friday night, then switch back to warm white. Confirm with the installer that the specific product they install supports custom palettes, not only preset holidays.

Are these only for Christmas?

No. The same fixtures cover Christmas, New Year's, Independence Day, Halloween, and quiet year-round accent lighting. The point of a permanent system is that you are not buying a new strand kit for each holiday.

How durable are permanent outdoor lights in North Texas?

Installers typically use outdoor-rated aluminum or composite track and sealed LED nodes designed for heat, UV, and wind. No outdoor product is maintenance-free. Ask the installer what they warrant, how failed nodes are replaced, and whether the track is screwed into fascia in a way that can be serviced later.

Do hardwired installs need a licensed electrician?

If the project taps a new circuit, moves an outdoor receptacle, or hardwires a transformer or controller into the home's electrical system, Texas work of that kind is generally performed by a licensed electrician. Low-voltage plug-in controllers may not need new wiring. The independent installer you speak with should say which path they use and who holds the license for any line-voltage work. We do not perform electrical work.

Do you install the lights yourselves?

No. Frisco Permanent Lights is a referral service. We connect homeowners with independent local installers. We do not employ installation crews, hold contractor licenses for this work, or supervise jobs.
